Diving with great sharks last week, Gansbaai, South Africa 

The great whites are extremely elegant and powerful creatures to watch. The dive really showed me that these great hunters are not vicious beasts as portrayed in some adrenaline seeking movies or even on some documentaries.

These cage dives are being criticized. There has been an increase in shark attacks at the beaches in the last few years.

Experienced the dive, I personally don't see the connection between the dives and the attacks. The sharks are not fed any fish during these dives, just lured towards the cages.

The dives are operated many miles from Cape Town as well, in Gansbaai.
