#HajimenoIppo ch1076: I think Ippo's more than hurt, there may be some brain damage. #manga 

Well this is a bad sign. Hopefully Umezawa brings this to the
attention of someone at Kamogawa gym. This could be the result of
Ippo's incredibly violent knockout, or of years and years of hard
shots to the head by powerful foes.

Ippo's original aim was to go someplace and make himself useful. So
he heads across town to help out Umezawa with his latest manga
project. And while attempting to help him with some basic shading and
fill-in work, we see he's completely incapable of basic hand-eye
coordination. It's not just a matter of staying in the lines, he
can't even come close to a basic straight line.

I've b*tched for a long time about Ippo's basic style of fighting.
The Dempsey Roll was originally a tool born of defensive training,
that Ippo was able to fashion into a reborn weapon from a much older
age of boxing. But that move and Coach Kamogawa's strategy seems to
have forced him to incur more and more violent exchanges. Brave (or
crazy) foes have continually tried to take advantage of Ippo's force
to take him down. And the knockout from the fight with Alfredo
Gonzalez didn't even come from a Dempsey Roll exchange.

It's mentioned how Ippo is terrible at dodging, I think that will be
the key. And with the recent talk of Ippo's possible retirement, it's
clear he'll have to change or witness his boxing career die.
