#FMABrotherhood ep54: never did I imagine I'd feel sadness for this character. #anime
To think, Envy of all things met such an end. He was so frightened of Mustang & crushed by Ed's words that he took his own life rather than be finished off. The argument over who should or should not kill him grated my nerves a bit, but Envy's death was more than justified. Envy would never be harmless. And I don't see Mustang's one act of avenging his murdered friend equaling Scar's endless rampage to kill not just dozens of state alchemists, but all who got in his way. It's not a one to one correlation for me. That minor squable aside, I did understand a bit better when I saw Envy's pitiful attempts to fan the flames of hate.
The rest of the episode didn't feel nearly as depressing. Alex (so as not to confuse him w/ big sis) really impressed this episode. And it feels bit by bit that the military's control is being lifted through these tactical measures to expose the corrupt leadership. Seeing "Father"/Homunculus meet Hohenheim is the ultimate teaser though. I don't know if Hohenheim has a chance though, looks like Homunculus has been reading while he's just been wondering the country. :-)
