Louis Lunch
Sherri's husband, Shawn, recommended I once I got to New Haven, I call him and he'd bring me to Louie's for lunch. I couldn't pass up an invite to a restaurant which dates to 1895 and claims to have served the first hamburger in America. Man, I was not disappointed. A very dark and very small place which reminded me of some of the old, worn, favorite bars in Harvard Square. The gas grills are from 1898 and the bread toaster is from the 1920's.
