Boston Marathon 2013
April 15th, 2013. This was my medical team from Zone 15, on the corner of Clarendon and Stuart, the last zone in the closed-off "chute" before the runners reunite with their families. I'm on the far right with the yellow vest. This was my third year volunteering for the medical team. In 2011 I was posted in this zone, and in 2012, when the temp was in the 80's, I was posted in the first zone after the finish line. This year my director asked me to be Zone Captain, and since it was my first time in that position, I specifically asked for a low-activity zone far away from the finish line. I was moved back to 15. This photo was taken around 11 am, before the runners started coming in. Because the weather was so runner-friendly the day was going pretty smoothly and quietly. It was so quiet, I was hoping they'd close the course and dismiss us early, since after the race I had dinner plans with Paul, Ralitsa, Wendy and Justin at a restaurant on Boylston Street. Then 2:49 happened.
